​The Adult Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner (AGACNP) post master's certificate is available for nurse practitioners who are licensed as family or adult nurse practitioners as part of the DNP program or as a stand alone post-masters certificate. 

The program will build upon competences obtained in the student’s family or adult nurse practitioner program and prepare students to provide direct patient care management of adult-gerontology patients with complex and specialized health needs in an acute care setting.  

This certificate will satisfy requirements for taking the AGACNP ​certification exam from the American Nurse Credentialing Center (ANCC) or the American Association of Critical Care Nurses (AACN). 

Interested students should follow DNP program admission criteria. 

Admission is open to qualified people of any race, color, religion, and national or ethnic origin. Graduate admission is processed through the Keigwin School of Nursing. ​

Admission Criteria:
​Admission to the graduate nursing programs is limited. The admission process is competitive based on the following criteria: 

  • ​AGACNP Certificate application with $50.00 nonrefundable application fee
  • Official transcripts from all colleges and universities
  • Licensed or eligible for licensure as an Adult or Family Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner (ARNP) in the United States 
  • Masters of Science in Nursing (MSN) from an accredited NLN or CCNE program
  • MSN degree GPA of 3.3 or higher on a 4.0 scale
  • Graded Essay
  • Three recommendations; may be clinical, professional or academic

AGACNP Post-Master's DNP program has met ANCC's (American Nurses Credentialing Center) certification eligibility educational requirements. Students who complete this program, in its entirety, have the educational preparation to sit for the ANCC certification in this role and population. Applicants must also meet any additional eligibility criteria in effect when they apply for certification.
