Director of Institutional Research & Assessment

Position Summary

Coordinate data collection, analysis and research at the institutional level to inform institutional effectiveness programs, and provide general management information for the University. Provide specific metric, information and analytic support throughout the University. Work cooperatively and collaboratively with the campus in supporting executive and managerial decision-making; maintaining performance measures of peer institutions; coordinating and supervising institutional effectiveness processes; developing and analyzing institutional research databases.

Position Duties

  • Analyze recruitment and marketing efforts
  • Study and report on student retention
  • Coordinate assessment process and administer assessment database software (Tracdat and Xitracs)
  • Analyze educational research and reform literature to identify implications for the institution’s program planning
  • Organize and evaluate data related to short and long range planning; prepare narratives, statistical reports and recommendations; make oral presentations as requested
  • Produce a New Student Profile and Enrollment Report each fall semester
  • Produce an Institutional Fact Book
  • Produce reports required by state, federal, and accrediting agencies
  • Coordinate with Registrar to produce official enrollment statistics and projections
  • Produce reports on grade distributions
  • Assist in preparation and analysis of student surveys
  • Complete requests for information from outside agencies, organizations, and publishers
  • Plan, organize and conduct meetings, seminars and training programs related to educational and institutional effectiveness and outcomes
  • Serve as liaison for all academic, administrative and academic support for all institutional effectiveness processes
  • Represent the University in all institutional effectiveness activities by serving on committees and as a support for accrediting processes
  • Assist with identifying processes that may impact institutional effectiveness and assessment processes (both positively and negatively)
  • Supervise the staff in the of the Office of Institutional Research and Assessment
  • Other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications

  • Master’s degree with experience collecting, analyzing, and reporting data
  • Statistical skills
  • Computer proficiency with database, spreadsheet, and statistical packages
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work collegially as a member of an enrollment team
  • Experience in managing and supervising professional staff and personnel

Preferred Qualifications

  • Doctorate degree in appropriate discipline
  • Experience in higher education, particularly private higher education
  • Experience with assessment
  • Experience with SAS or SPSS
  • Experience with accreditation processes
  • Experience in institutional research or related field
