Position Summary

The Online Coordinator for the College of Healthcare Science (BRCHS) works in a team-based environment to direct and manage the daily operational functions and collection of program data, providing tracking mechanisms to successfully, efficiently achieve online learning education goals. This position will closely work with the online program directors within the BRCHS. This will be achieved through the following: Program Coordination, Teaching, Supervision/Area Manager, and Service.

Essential Job Duties

  • Program Coordination
    • Plan and facilitate delivery of online learning portfolios with attention to academic quality, revenue generation, and diversity in delivery format. This involves working with other online staff members to schedule courses, develop and maintain budgets, market courses, coordinate onsite support, monitor delivery of courses, and evaluate courses. The selected candidate will be responsible for hiring, supervising, and evaluating the work of ad hoc instructors who teach these course under the supervision of the online program directors.
    • Develop new continuing education courses, advanced training and certificate programs. This involves identifying course ideas, assessing market demand, and working with instructors and instructional designers to develop face-to-face and online courses.
    • Explore and collaborate with other staff in developing a plan to strengthen and grow the online programming, including acquisition of grants, developing CEU conferences, etc.
  • Teaching
    • Potentially teach face-to-face, blended and online substance abuse courses. This includes: Substance Abuse Certificate Program.
  • Supervision/Area Manager
    • Provide leadership in planning and delivery of a financially sustainable collaborative portfolio of continuing education courses, advanced training and certificate programs
    • Responsible to report to Jacksonville University SACS coordinator
    • Provide monthly reports of data metrics and ROI
  • Service
    • Participate as a member of the program area, department, division, and university.
    • Complete other duties as assigned.
  • Professional and Other Scholarly Activities
    • Participate in conferences and professional meetings, as well as communicate with colleagues within the department, Jacksonville University, statewide and nationally to remain aware of current developments in online learning.
    • Engage in professional development activities.

  • Candidate must be a highly motivated self-starter who can be a team player and desires to share creative solutions and best practices.
  • Requirements include problem-solving, critical thinking skills and the ability to balance multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Excellent organizational, interpersonal and communication skills are required.
  • Solid knowledge or experience working in academia.
  • Attention to detail and mental concentration are necessary for accurately performing tasks; ability to tolerating frequent interruptions.

Work Conditions

  • Primarily indoors except when traveling between campus buildings or being off-campus
  • Standard office hours 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., evening hours occasionally required
  • Some off-campus travel required
  • Work is performed under minimum supervision and requires incumbent to exercise independence and discretion

Physical Requirements

  • Manual dexterity to efficiently operate a computer keyboard and other business machines
  • Near vision sufficient to read written communications and computer display screens
  • Adequate hearing to communicate effectively in person and by phone

  • Bachelor’s degree required or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
