Position Summary

The Department of Kinesiology in the Brooks Rehabilitation College of Healthcare Sciences at Jacksonville University invites applicants for a 12-month position at the level of Assistant/Associate Professor in Kinesiology. The Department is seeking a faculty member with expertise in exercise physiology. Ideally, the candidate has: 1) a doctoral degree in exercise physiology, 2) experience teaching in exercise physiology at the undergraduate and graduate levels, and 3) research experience in human physiology as it applies to movement and physical activity.

Essential Job Duties

  • Teach exercise physiology courses in the Kinesiology undergraduate and graduate programs.
  • Develop/maintain a research portfolio in the physiology of human movement with a focus on collaborative and inter-disciplinary research.
  • Advising of undergraduate and graduate students.

Special Skills

  • Research and development in the field of exercise physiology considered valuable.
  • Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist viewed favorably.

Work Conditions

  • Primarily indoors except when traveling between campus buildings.
  • Some off-campus travel may be required.
  • Work is performed under minimum supervision and requires incumbent to exercise independence and discretion.

Physical Requirements

  • Manual dexterity to efficiently operate a computer keyboard and scientific equipment
  • Near vision sufficient to read written communications and computer display screens
  • Adequate hearing to communicate effectively in person and by phone

Prerequisites Required for Position

Minimum Education Requirement

  • PhD or EdD in exercise physiology (or related field)

Minimum Work Experience

  • Academic teaching experience at the undergraduate and graduate level in exercise physiology
  • Research experience in the area of physiology

Preferred Qualifications

  • Graduate coursework and research in exercise physiology considered valuable
