Position Summary

The Jacksonville University Division of Music is seeking a dynamic music entrepreneur/teacher for a full time visiting position in Music Business for the academic term of 2017-2018 (beginning August 15, 2017). Rank and salary dependent on qualifications and experience.

Essential Job Duties

  • Teach a full-time course load selected from courses such as Music and Intellectual Property Law, Artist and Concert Management, Record Company Operations, and Music Entrepreneurship
  • Coordinate the operations of a campus-based record label
  • Develop syllabi with documented learning objectives and assessment criteria
  • Meet courses as scheduled and hold regular office hours
  • Participate in recruitment activities and actively recruit students for the program
  • Participate in campus professional activities, which include, but are not limited to development of course curriculums and new instructional approaches, thesis committee memberships, learning outcomes assessment, staff meetings and community outreach
  • Continually assess the music business program for its learning effectiveness, working with the division chair to make changes through relevant committees if necessary
  • Aid students in developing highly competitive job portfolios

Minimum Qualifications

  • JD, MBA, or Master of Music in Music Business or related field
  • Multiple years of professional experience in the music industry with proven record of success
  • Teaching experience in higher education

Preferred Qualifications

  • Doctorate in Music or related field
  • Five or more years of professional experience
  • Experience in the coordination of music non-profit organizations
