Position Summary

The Division of Visual Arts in the College of Fine Arts at Jacksonville University invites applications for a one year, full-time contract for Visiting Assistant Professor of Digital Design for the academic term of 2017-2018 (beginning August 15, 2017).

Essential Job Duties

  • Teach a full-time course load in the areas of Digital Art and Graphic Design
  • Develop syllabi with documented learning objectives and assessment criteria
  • Hold regular course and office hours
  • Participate in recruitment activities and actively recruit students for the program
  • Participate in campus professional activities, which include, but are not limited to development of course curriculums and new instructional approaches, thesis committee memberships, learning outcomes assessment, staff meetings and community outreach
  • Continually assess graphic design program for its learning effectiveness, working with the division chair to make changes through relevant committees if necessary
  • Mentor Senior students in the development of their Senior Theses
  • Aid students in developing highly competitive job portfolios

Minimum Qualifications

  • BFA in graphic design or related field
  • Two years of professional experience
  • Demonstrated accomplishment in motion graphics and interactive design
  • Familiarity with print based design

Preferred Qualifications

  • MFA in graphic design or related field
  • Five years of professional experience
  • Teaching experience in higher education
  • Familiarity with Film post production techniques and software a plus
